MEMBERS' MAILING LIST

The East of London Family History Society (EoLFHS) is now offering an optional on-line mailing list for its members. This mail list is similar to mail lists for other societies and also for countless topic orientated mail list.

To be able to use the our mailing list called: EOLFHS-MEMBERS

1. you will need to be a current EoLFHS member, and
2. you need to be in our EoLFHS On-Line Members List with an up-to-date
   e-mail address. If you are a member but not on the On-Line Members list, we ask you to do that first and allow up to 7 days before you send a
   subscription request to the Mailing List.
   
   You will appreciate that the Mailing List administrator needs to confirm membership when the webmaster has updated the On-Line Members database. This takes place once a week but not instantly. Your co-operation in this respect would be greatly appreciated.

To subscribe to the EOLFHS-MEMBERS mailing list, please do the following:

• address a note to our mail list administrator 
• send a copy to Ian Munro at connaughton@onetel.com
• title the note: EOLFHS-MEMBERS LIST Request
• in the body of your e-mail, copy and paste the following words:

subscribe

Please also add your full name with membership number.

Please do not attempt to send a note requesting to be on the list if you are not a member. We'll just need to politely tell you, you cannot be on the list. If you wish to be a member, please go to our Joining the Society page, check us out and fill out an application. Applications requests and responses are by paper mail and can take 4-6 weeks before you receive your member number. We cannot process you without your member number.

In response to your mail list subscription request above:

• you will receive a welcoming note from our administrator explaining the list and user protocol.
• you will begin receiving e-mails from all others on the list you submit questions and responses.
• you will be able to enter your own questions to others on the list.

How quickly should a response come back from the mail list administrator:

• normally you will get a welcoming note within 24-48 hours

Searching the EOLFHS-MEMBERS mail list archives:

• Go to the following URL:  
  http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/eolfhs-members
• You can browse all messages posted to the list each month
• To search the archives go to
  http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=EOLFHS-MEMBERS
• Enter your search term
• Hit the 'Submit Query' button

The results of your search should then be displayed, allowing you to view any or all messages that have been found.
