Q2: How do I get birth, marriage and

Q1. Can you tell
me whether there is any direct access to UK births/ marriages/ deaths registration records
on-line?
A1. The situation is
constantly changing as time progresses. English Origins now provide a
payable search facility on line. Check out the links on this page
HERE.
Q2: How do I get
birth, marriage and death certificates for 1800 and before?
A2: Civil registration in England did not start until 1st
July 1837 and the only records kept before this date were baptisms, marriages and burials
in the relevant local church. Some of these registers are still held by parish priests but
many have been deposited in County archives. There is a
list
of parishes which contains information on the location of records. Some registers have
been filmed by the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and can be obtained by your
local LDS Family History Centre.
