ST. DUNSTAN'S CHURCH STEPNEY - IGI
OMISSIONS
Information supplied by Society Member John Goodwin
I have found a major error on the IGI for the records of
St. Dunstan's Church, Stepney.
According to Phillimore's Parish Register Index 'all' the data has been
through the sausage machine - up to the 1870's or whatever the exact cut off
date was.
I have recently found that for the ten year period from 1805 to 1814
inclusive NO marriage details are included.
My findings have been confirmed by the LDS, and the data will be added at
some as yet unspecified date.
There are possibly members out there - like me - searching around in all the
wrong places trying to find a marriage for an ancestor during that period.
I found this out when I recently purchased Paillot's Marriage Index on
CD-rom and found my namesakes marriage recorded there but not on the IGI.

JANUARY 2004
Welcome to the new look East of London FHS website for
2004.
The Society is proud to be celebrating it's 25th
anniversary this year. The website has been redesigned for several
reasons, firstly to celebrate the anniversary with a new look and secondly
to include some additional navigation features within the site to enable
easier browsing for the visitor. These features include a fly out menu on
the left side, click tabs at the top of each page taking you to the most
frequently used pages, similar links at the bottom of each page and relevant
links on the right side of some pages taking you to additional pages within
each section.
Bookmarks to particular pages will not be affected as page
names have not been changed. The cemetery section however has been expanded
to allow one page per borough.
The Publications section has been altered slightly to give
easier access to information about the growing number of CDROMs being
produced by the Society.
Inevitably with a major overhaul of the site there may be
some broken links but these have been checked and appear to be in order, but
if you find any that don't work, please email the webmaster.
