The East of London Family History Society currently comprises more than 2,400 people from all over the world who share a common interest in furthering family history and genealogical research in the historic area to the east of the City of London, England. We currently have members in the following countries:
Australia, Barbados, Canada, Finland, France, Guyana, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom, United States of America.

We focus on a wide variety of aspects of life in the area during the 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.
The Society has no central offices, telephones or paid staff and all services are provided by volunteers. ![]()

Articles published in “Cockney Ancestor” are generally contributed by members but we do publish articles from non members if the Editorial committee feel they are of significant interest.
